The Wulin: Confirmed Setting
The Wulin is the martial world Soul roams while hunted, with sixty-six days to live and a conspiracy to uncover.
What is the Wulin?
The Wulin is the martial world Soul roams. S-GAME’s summary of the game puts the whole situation in one line: framed for murdering his master, Soul takes a devastating wound to the heart, is left with sixty-six days to live, and then “roams the Wulin” alone and hunted to unravel “a conspiracy that has ensnored the martial world.”
That sentence is the extent of the publisher’s description. “The martial world” is all of it — a world-scale term that identifies the arena of the story, not one district inside it. Nothing in the official material turns the word into a region on a map, an unlock condition, or a numbered area, and no first-party map of the Wulin exists at all.
The name also carries the register the publisher uses everywhere else for this world. The KungfuPunk style the official copy describes combines martial arts, cold steel, mechanical prosthetics, crumbling industrial ruins, Chinese aesthetics, and modern rock music — the golden age of wuxia cinema colliding with punk fantasy. The combat and systems guide separates what that style label covers from what it does not license, including any unannounced class or weapon tier.
Is the Wulin a place on the map?
The official summary lists the Wulin inside the same run of names as the Phantom World locales: “Memory Flowers, the Wulin and the Discordance, Transcension, the Lady of the Veil, Inanis’ Dreamscape…”
The publisher does not draw a boundary between the Wulin and that group, and does not publish a region tree, so the two sit side by side in the record rather than one inside the other. Pangzhen Township is the one place first-party material describes with any specificity — a key location, perpetually rain-drenched, rebuilt with ray tracing and NVIDIA DLSS 4 from high-precision 3D models based on scans of multiple ancient Chinese towns, and descended from the hand-drawn Pang Town in Rainblood. The locations overview keeps that description separate from the broader Wulin.
Each of the five names travelling alongside the Wulin in that sentence has its own page, covering what the store listing says about it: Memory Flowers, Discordance, Transcension, Lady of the Veil, and Inanis’ Dreamscape.
Which encounters take place in the Wulin?
The premise is fixed and short. Soul is framed for murdering his master, wounded in the heart, and given sixty-six days. He travels the Wulin alone, hunted, looking for the source of the conspiracy that has taken the martial world. The official store copy describes the journey itself through “rain and blood, kindness and vengeance; love and hatred intertwined in search of a heart,” which sets the themes without disclosing a choice system or separate outcomes. The endings and story guide keeps that boundary intact, because no ending list has been published.
Two encounters are confirmed as belonging to that journey. The Hunt is a former comrade of Soul’s, fought on a speeding wagon in the opening portion of the game, and Mó Yuan is Soul’s father and the Leader of the Bastion of Mó. Both encounters are unplaced on any map, and no source says where in the Wulin they happen.
What has not been published for the Wulin?
No official source publishes a map of the Wulin, a region hierarchy, an area count, area sizes, a traversal or unlock order, or an assignment of any named boss to a Wulin location. There is no collectible list, no NPC roster, and no description of what the sixty-six days do mechanically.
The roster is large even where it is unnamed. S-GAME confirms more than 30 primary weapons and more than 20 Phantom Edges, and game director Qiwei “Soulframe” Liang told 4Gamer that each weapon is bound to one boss, which implies at least 50 bosses. The confirmed weapons page records that relationship, and the official content status keeps it apart from any location claim.
