Lady of the Veil: Phantom World Name

Lady of the Veil is the one of seven named Phantom World locations whose category S-GAME has never settled: place, person or title.

What is Lady of the Veil?

It is the one entry in the seven-name set whose category the publisher has not settled. The Steam store’s about section lists it, and the official story summary names it as “the Lady of the Veil” — but no first-party source says whether that is a place, a person, a title, or a group. The locations overview records it as “a named locale or entity within the Phantom World” and marks the unresolved question as a gap to be filled.

The only evidence on the question is a grammatical detail, and it is weak. The summary writes the name with a definite article — “the Lady of the Veil” — where the neighbouring entries in the same list appear without one. That is a feature of one published sentence, not a classification. It fits a titled figure, and it equally fits a named locale that the summary simply introduced with an article. Nothing more can be built on it.

Do the Phantom World sentences settle the question?

Official copy describes the Phantom World generally: shifting light and shadow conceal mysteries at every turn, and exploration features hidden passages and mechanisms. Both sentences leave the question open, and neither attributes the hidden passages or the mechanisms to this name.

The two published sentences are also why the ambiguity matters. If the Lady of the Veil is a location, then the hidden-passage and mechanism language plausibly describes traversal inside it. If it is a figure, then that language describes the region the figure is associated with. The published phrase “dodge, deflect, counter, and strike in one seamless flow” describes the combat system as a whole, and it is not attached to this name either. Whether that flow happens inside the Veil, or somewhere else in the Phantom World, is not something the copy settles.

The name in the context of the confirmed world

The confirmed frame is the sixty-six-day premise and the conspiracy at the centre of the martial world. Soul is framed for murdering his master, suffers a devastating wound to the heart, and is left with sixty-six days to live. Alone and hunted, he roams the Wulin to unravel a conspiracy that has ensnored the martial world — a journey the store copy describes as “rain and blood, kindness and vengeance; love and hatred intertwined in search of a heart.” The endings and story guide records that no ending, route, or choice structure has been published.

The confirmed cast is short, and it is the strongest reason not to assume the Lady of the Veil is a character. The officially confirmed in-game characters are Soul and Mó Yuan, Soul’s father and the Leader of the Bastion of Mó. The production team is credited separately — Donnie Yen performs Mó Yuan and has been Creative Consultant since 2023, and Qiwei “Soulframe” Liang is S-GAME’s founder and game director — and none of them is a third in-game character. The official content status records that no further character has been published, so reading the Lady of the Veil as a person would add an unconfirmed character to a two-character roster.

Progression is confirmed too: more than 30 primary weapons and more than 20 Phantom Edges, taken from defeated foes, with each weapon bound to one boss per director Qiwei Liang’s 4Gamer statement, implying at least 50 bosses. The confirmed weapons page sets out that relationship in full. Nothing in it identifies the Lady of the Veil as a foe, a boss, or a weapon.

What is still unknown about Lady of the Veil?

Unresolved: whether the name denotes a place, an entity, a title, or both. Unrevealed: any map, layout, area size, traversal or unlock order, subregion names, collectible list, NPC or enemy roster, boss assignment, appearance, abilities, or story function. The locations overview lists it alongside Memory Flowers, Discordance, Transcension, and Inanis’ Dreamscape as one of the five Phantom World names in the official summary, and every one of those five has the same single-sentence treatment.
