Who is Mó Yuan?

Mó Yuan is Soul’s father and the Leader of the Bastion of Mó. S-GAME revealed the identity of the man shown cradling an infant in its pre-order announcement. PlayStation Blog supplies the direct father-and-son relationship.

Mó Yuan also has a separate boss reference page because official material positions him as an encounter as well as a story character. The character page focuses on identity and production context; the boss page records the absence of an official phase breakdown.

Who portrays Mó Yuan?

Donnie Yen provides facial and motion capture for Mó Yuan. Yen is a martial-arts film actor and has served as a Creative Consultant on Phantom Blade Zero since 2023, helping shape the kungfu style and action design.

The distinction is important: Mó Yuan is the fictional character; Donnie Yen is the actor and consultant. Qiwei “Soulframe” Liang is another real person—the founder of S-GAME and the game’s director. Neither contributor should appear in an in-game character roster.

What is the verified identity record?

Name Type Confirmed role
Mó Yuan In-game character Soul’s father; Leader of the Bastion of Mó
Donnie Yen Real person Facial and motion-capture actor for Mó Yuan; Creative Consultant
Qiwei “Soulframe” Liang Real person S-GAME founder and game director

Yen and Liang are real people attached to the production, not in-game characters. Yen performs Mó Yuan and advises on action design; Liang is S-GAME’s founder and game director, and his comments about weapon and boss counts come from production reporting rather than the game itself.

What S-GAME has not said about him

The cited sources do not publish Mó Yuan’s detailed history, combat statistics, weakness, location, reward, or phase count. The official content status keeps those unknowns visible. Readers looking for established combat systems can use the systems guide without assuming character-specific mechanics.

The S-GAME announcement identifies Mó Yuan as the man shown cradling an infant, but it does not date the scene. The relationship to Soul is confirmed separately by PlayStation Blog.
