Who is Mó Yuan?

Mó Yuan is the Leader of the Bastion of Mó and the father of Soul. S-GAME revealed his identity in its pre-order announcement, while PlayStation Blog explicitly identifies him as the protagonist’s father. He is a confirmed in-game character and boss, not a fan label attached to an unnamed trailer opponent.

Actor and martial-arts filmmaker Donnie Yen performs Mó Yuan through facial and motion capture. Yen has also served as a Creative Consultant on Phantom Blade Zero since 2023, contributing to the game’s kungfu style and action design. Donnie Yen is a real production contributor; Mó Yuan is the character he portrays.

How many phases are officially described?

The cited official sources describe zero numbered or named phases for Mó Yuan’s encounter. They establish his identity, leadership role, family relationship, and performer, but do not provide a phase structure, move list, arena, weakness, reward, or strategy.

That absence is intentional here. A trailer appearance is not enough to manufacture mechanics. If S-GAME publishes a combat breakdown, this page can be expanded with a dated source rather than speculation.

What does each source actually establish?

The two sources contribute different pieces of the record. S-GAME’s announcement names Mó Yuan, calls him Leader of the Bastion of Mó, identifies Donnie Yen as his facial and motion-capture performer, and describes Yen’s consulting role. PlayStation Blog explicitly calls Mó Yuan Soul’s father. Keeping those statements attached to their sources prevents a production credit from being mistaken for story lore.

The official text does not explain the Bastion’s history, Mó Yuan’s motives, or the circumstances of a fight. Nothing in the trailers or key art fills those gaps either.

What should readers compare next?

The Seven Stars encounter is currently the clearest official example of a two-phase boss structure. Its Seven Stars Sword Formation and String Puppet phases are named by S-GAME. The boss disclosure status sets out which of Mó Yuan’s opponents S-GAME has actually named.
