What is Seven Stars?

Seven Stars is the name S-GAME gives to a complete boss encounter featuring seven swordsmen who move as one. The official Year of the Snake article presents an unedited combat sequence and divides that one battle into two named phases. The phase names are not separate claims about two unrelated bosses.

How many phases does the encounter have?

The official source describes two phases:

  1. Seven Stars Sword Formation — coordinated group assaults alternate with individual strikes as the seven swordsmen operate together.
  2. String Puppet — the second phase begins after casualties, with surviving disciples suspending and manipulating their leader on crimson threads.

The source calls String Puppet “the second phase,” which fixes the order. It does not publish health values, elemental weaknesses, a recommended level, or a reward table. Those fields remain undocumented rather than guessed.

How should the official names be counted?

The safest terminology is hierarchical:

Level Official name Meaning in the source
Encounter Seven Stars The complete unedited boss battle
Phase 1 Seven Stars Sword Formation Seven swordsmen coordinate group and individual attacks
Phase 2 String Puppet Survivors manipulate their leader on crimson threads

One encounter, two phases. Search results often flatten the three labels into three separate bosses, which puts more names on the roster than S-GAME has published. Each phase keeps its own page, and both carry the link back.

Why are the phases documented separately?

Either phase name can be searched for on its own, which is why each has a page. Both belong to the same Seven Stars encounter, and the phase pages cover only the behaviour S-GAME describes.

For the broader confirmed roster, compare Mó Yuan and The Hunt, then read the official content status before relying on any longer pre-launch list.

The official article also says the sequence uses motion capture from several martial artists under veteran action choreographers, and describes the result as a KungfuPunk experience rooted in tradition and expressed in an eerie, new form.
